Background Regarding the James H. Quillen 
Chair of Excellence in Teaching and Learning

 
    The James H. Quillen Chair of Excellence in Teaching and Learning was initiated by and named for the Honorable James H. Quillen, United States House of Representatives (retired). The chair was established specifically to address issues related to teaching, its relationship to learning, and innovative practice and problem solving. The holder of the Chair is an individual who has shown success in innovative teaching of preservice and inservice teachers; who has a successful record of collaboration to improve the quality of instruction; and experience working with faculties in various disciplines to improve teaching and learning.
