E. (Jim) McLean
| Dr. McLean has graduate training in statistics, measurement, evaluation, research, social foundations of education, and educational psychology at the University of Florida coupled with 35 years experience teaching in these areas. He also has over 25 years administrative experience. During the past 30 years he has directed, co-directed, or administered well over 100 research, assessment, and evaluation projects funded for more than five million dollars. Currently, he serves as University Professor and Dean of the College of Education at The University of Alabama. He formally occupied the James H. Quillen Chair of Excellence in Teaching and Learning in the College of Education at East Tennessee State University (2000-2004). Between 1995 and 2000, he served as University Research Professor and directed the Center for Educational Accountability in the School of Education at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus at that institution. Between 1974 and 1995, he held a number of positions at The University of Alabama (in Tuscaloosa) including Area Head and Assistant Dean for Research and Service. His research agenda includes applications and methodologies of evaluation, assessment, measurement, accountability, research, and the impact of policy. He is also interested in determining if student learning improves when teachers use action research methods. |
